amid criticism of Trump's repeated

citizenship. Trump was asked in an 
interview with The Washington 
Post that was published before the 
statement was released if he

Hillary Clinton, who returned to the 
campaign trail Thursday after being 
diagnosed with pneumonia, then 
attacked Trump for his continued

birthplace. 
"Today he did it again. He was 
asked one more time where was 
President Obama born and he still 
wouldn't say Hawaii. He still 
wouldn't say America," Clinton said 
at the Congressional Hispanic 
Caucus Institute dinner Thursday 
night.

Trump's campaign team then fired 
back at Clinton, admitting that 
Obama was born in the U.S but also 
claiming that Clinton in 2008 was 
actually the one who hatched the 
theory that the president was born 
on foreign soil.

raised this issue to smear then- 
candidate Barack Obama in her 
very nasty, failed 2008 campaign for

A 13-year-old black boy has been 
shot dead by a white Ohio police 
officer for pulling out a toy gun 
while he was being chased after a $ 
10 theft. 
Ohio authorities on Thursday 
stated that the Columbus officer, 
Bryan Mason, who was responding 
to a report of a $10 armed robbery 
shot Tyre King, an eighth grader, 
multiple times on Wednesday 
night, September 14th after the 
youngster pulled a BB gun from his 
waistband that looked "practically 
identical" to the weapon carried by 
officers. 
It remains unclear if the boy had 
actually pulled out the gun and 
aimed it at the Mason. The family of 
the boy, in a statement through its 
lawyer, said officer's version of 
events was in conflict with 
numerous witness accounts. 
How exactly King acted before he 
was shot dead is not known at the 
moment, the family said, and called 
for an independent investigation. 
According to AP, a man told officers 
that a group of young men had 
demanded money, threatening 
him with a gun. The victim calmly 
indicated he didn’t want to make a 
big deal over $10. 
Sirens were heard moments later 
as police searched for the suspects. 
A short time later officers found 
three males, including King, 
matching the description of the 
suspects, police said. While 
attempting to question them, King 
and another male fled into an alley. 
What happened afterwards 
remains sketchy. Ohio Police claim 
Mason fired after King pulled out 
the look-alike gun from his 
waistband but according to The 
Columbus Dispatch newspaper, 19- 
year-old Demetrius Braxton, the 
other boy who was with King, said 
police asked them to get down but 
King ran before being shot. 
Braxton also admitted the boys 
committed the robbery. 
"I didn't think a cop would 
shoot. Why didn’t they tase 
him?" Braxton told the 
newspaper. 
Police has not officially identified 
Braxton as the other boy who was 
with King. It only said it had 
questioned the other male, who 
was later released 
King was taken to a children's 
hospital, where he was 
pronounced dead. He played 
several sports, including football, 
and was in the young scholars 
program at school, according to 
Sean Walton, the lawyer for his 
family. 
Police records show that in 2012, 
officer Mason, a nine-year veteran 
of the force shot and killed a man 
who was holding another person at 
gunpoint. Columbus Dispatch said 
investigators cleared him. Mason 
has been sent on leave while the 
shooting is investigated. 
At a news conference, Police Chief 
Kim Jacobs displayed a photo of the 
BB gun like the one Tyre had. 
"Our officers carry a gun that

Mayor Andrew Ginther has called 
for the community to come 
together and questioned why an 
eight-grader would have a replica

Nigeria's Economy: VP Osinbajo Optimistic About Recovery

Nigeria's Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, has attributed the current economic recession in the country to the sharp drop in power generation, occasioned by vandalism by militants and the looting of the treasury among others.
He said that the federal government remains focused and resolute in the quest to revamping the economy.
He was speaking in Abeokuta, the Ogun state capital after an event and a visit to the Ogun State Governor, Ibikunle Amosun at the government house in the state capital. 
The Vice President also said that the government is making effort towards taking the full advantage in the manufacturing sector, agriculture, solid minerals and technology to revamp the economy.
Set and Prepared 
The Vice President highlighted figures from the latest report by the National Bureau of Statistics which shows that agriculture and solid minerals had already started to contribute more to the economy
"We are all set and prepared to get out of the recession. I think that it is a time for us to take on the challenges of the time and understand them as opportunities.
"One of the key reasons why we are in a recession, as you know, is the fact that we lost almost 60% of our revenue due to the vandalisation of the pipelines in the Niger Delta and we lost almost 40% of gas due to power.
"Once we are able to resolve that, we will at least be able to earn more revenue and I very strongly believe that by God’s grace we will be able to resolve that. If revenue goes up, that is an added advantage," he said.
A Part To Play
While asking Nigerians to be more patriotic, the Vice President explained that measures such as the launch of the 50,000 jobs for volunteer corps, micro credit loans for market women and conditional cash transfer for a million of the poorest are to be launched soon.
Prof. Osinbajo encouraged Nigerians to believe in the government to deliver the change it promised, adding that the development they crave would not happen overnight but the government remains focused.
He also noted that all Nigerians have a part to play in the change they want to see.
"We are very calm and extremely confident that, God being on our side, this country will not be the same in the next couple of years," he said.

Nigeria's External Reserve Declines By $1bn

Nigeria's external reserves have been depleted by one billion dollars in the last five weeks, according to the latest statistics from the Central Bank.
The decline was attributed to the regulator's almost daily sale of currencies or interventions at the new floating foreign exchange market.
Africa's largest oil producer sees its external forex reserves down by 2.86 per cent to $25.45 billion on August 29 up from $26.2 billion position at July ending.
On a year-on-year basis, the reserves have fallen by 18.9 per cent.

President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday in Daura called on Nigerian youths, particularly those from the South-East, to take their minds off the actualization of Biafra and promote national unity.
Receiving over 100 National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members serving in Daura local government area, in his residence, President Buhari pledged his unalloyed commitment to the unity and prosperity of Nigeria.
He urged them to remain focused in life, pursue their dreams and reject those fanning embers of discord and disintegration of Nigeria.
Speaking specifically to corps members from the South Eastern states, the President said: "Tell your colleagues who want Biafra to forget about it." 
"As a military commander, I walked from Degem, a border town between the north and the east, to the border between Cameroons and Nigeria.
"I walked on my foot for most of the 30 months that we fought the Nigeria-Biafra civil war, in which at least two million Nigerians were killed.
"We were made by our leaders to go and fight Biafra not because of money or oil, because oil was not critical factor then, but because of one Nigeria.
"So if leaderships at various levels failed, it was not the fault of the rest of Nigerians who have no quarrel with one another.
"So please tell your colleagues that we must be together to build this country. It is big enough for us and potentially big enough in terms of resources.
"Those who work hard will earn a respectable living. I have seen this country, I fought for this country and I will continue to work for the unity of this country," the President said. 
The President, who specially recognised corps members from the Niger Delta and South-Eastern states serving in Daura, praised the vision of former President Yakubu Gowon in setting up the scheme in 1973.
The President said that the scheme has creditably promoted national unity and cohesion by exposing young people to the uniqueness and cultural diversity of Nigeria.
"I asked for those from the other extreme of Nigeria because I very much appreciate the NYSC scheme and whenever I see General Gowon, I always thank him for that."
In his remarks, Mr Egbewumi Adebolu, the Corps Liaison Officer in Daura, thanked the President for the honour of receiving them and making their stay in Daura memorable.
He said the youths strongly believed in the programme of the President to reduce unemployment and create jobs for more Nigerians.
Adebolu thanked the President for his personal gifts of cows, bags of rice and cash to corps members in the community for Salah celebration.

ndo Govt. Sensitises Residents On Lassa Fever

Residents of Ondo State have been advised to maintain a healthy environment and avoid rats from getting in contact with their food, so as to prevent the spread of Lassa fever in the state.
The state's Commissioner for Health, Dr. Dayo Adeyanju, stated this on Thursday at a sensitisation meeting on the management and control of Lassa fever held in Owo town of Ondo State, southwest Nigeria.
The meeting comes up after a case of the viral disease was confirmed at the Federal Medical Centre in the town, while two other suspected cases are still being investigated.
The Commissioner had earlier stopped on the highway between Akure ?and Owo to educate some residents on the need to stop spreading food substances such as cassava and yam flour near bushes, in order to prevent rats from contaminating the food.
He ?disclosed that the state government had made funds available to procure the equipment for testing the disease, as the victims pass through a lot of suffering which worsens their situation when they are being transferred to Edo State for treatment.
Speaking to reporters, a public health physician, Dr. Olufemi Ayodeji, explained the cause of the disease and how it is transmitted.
He said that the symptoms of Lassa fever include body pains, vomiting and the regular fever just like malaria, saying it could only be diagnosed through medical tests on the victims.

Ondo Govt. Sensitises Residents On Lassa Fever 
Residents of Ondo State have been advised to maintain a healthy environment and avoid rats from getting in contact with their food, so as to prevent the spread of Lassa fever in the state.
The state's Commissioner for Health, Dr. Dayo Adeyanju, stated this on Thursday at a sensitisation meeting on the management and control of Lassa fever held in Owo town of Ondo State, southwest Nigeria.
The meeting comes up after a case of the viral disease was confirmed at the Federal Medical Centre in the town, while two other suspected cases are still being investigated.
The Commissioner had earlier stopped on the highway between Akure ?and Owo to educate some residents on the need to stop spreading food substances such as cassava and yam flour near bushes, in order to prevent rats from contaminating the food.
He ?disclosed that the state government had made funds available to procure the equipment for testing the disease, as the victims pass through a lot of suffering which worsens their situation when they are being transferred to Edo State for treatment.
Speaking to reporters, a public health physician, Dr. Olufemi Ayodeji, explained the cause of the disease and how it is transmitted.
He said that the symptoms of Lassa fever include body pains, vomiting and the regular fever just like malaria, saying it could only be diagnosed through medical tests on the victims.

Plateau State Records Four New Cases Of Lassa Fever 
Plateau State in Nigeria's north-central region has reported four fresh cases of Lassa fever in the state.
The state Commissioner of Health, Dr. Kuden Kamshak, told reporters on Tuesday that the cases were being investigated, with the samples taken to the Diagnostic Centre at Irrua in Edo State for analysis.
Dr. Kamshak explained that altogether, seven cases had been reported in the state while only two have tested positive to the disease.
The Commissioner added that the state government had deployed health workers across the state to sensitise citizens on symptoms and preventive measures against the disease.
These fresh cases came days after Plateau State and three other states were added to the list of states with fresh cases of Lassa fever.
On September 2, five more cases of Lassa fever were reported in four states in Nigeria, increasing chances that the disease could spread further.
Confirming the new cases, Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) said that two cases were reported from Plateau State, one from Rivers, and one each from Bauchi and Gombe. They all occurred between August 24 to September 2.

Nigerian Artistes Dominate List Of Nominees For Africa Music Awards

Nominees for the various regional categories of the 2016 Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA) have been announced.
The 3rd edition of the music awards, which is taking place in Lagos, South-west Nigeria, kicks off with jury members from different regions in Africa.
Nigerian music seems to be dominating, as artists such as Aramide, Tiwa Savage, Shey Shay in the female category and Wizkid, Flavor and Tekno, in the male category, have topped the on-going nominations for the West African category.
The AFRIMA is not relenting on its key focus areas, which is to produce an international platform to celebrate the African cultural heritage and values.
It is also a avenue to create sustainable growth of the African music industry, as a contributor to national and continental economies.
Hence, in partnership with the African Union, (AU), it is promising to create a brand that lives up to the expectations of its internal and external stakeholders.
The 2016 edition therefore, is expected to be the biggest music event in Africa so far.
Producer AFRIMA, Mike Dada says, the idea is to change the narrative of Africa, through the instrumentality of music, art, culture, entertainment and tourism.
Another jury member reiterated that the AFRIMA platform was an opportunity to have a real taste of the African diversity.
"When we speak about diversity, we speak academically, we actually never experience the diversity until you join a team of people like these.
"You start seeing differences in perspective, levels of knowledge and all these different colours that shape our understanding of the African continent," he said.

Senate To Investigate Kaduna Earth Tremor

The Nigerian Senate says it will investigate the alleged earth tremor that happened in Kaduna State on Monday.
Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki, gave the assurance while addressing reporters at his residence in Ilorin on Tuesday where he was to celebrate the Eid-el-Kabir.
He said that the legislative chamber would invite relevant agencies to enlighten Nigerians on their preparedness in case of higher occurrence of the tremor.
There were reports on Monday that a fresh earth tremor had occurred at Sambang Dagi community barely 24 hours after a similar incident was recorded at Kwoi village both in Jaba Local Government Area of Kaduna State, in Nigeria's North-West region.
An indigene of the area told Channels Television's correspondent that the second vibration occurred very early in the morning on Monday, leaving residents scampering for safety.
There were also concerns that the earth tremor could destroy several artifacts that are located in Nok community.
The town of Nok is barely four kilometres from Kwoi where the local government secretariat of 'Jaba' is located, while Sambang Dagi is about 20km away from Nok.
Exaggerated 
Meanwhile, the Kaduna State Emergency Management Agency has said that no life or property was lost from the earth tremor that occurred at Kwoi community.
Speaking to our correspondent, the Executive Secretary of the agency, Mr Ezekiel Baba-Karik, also debunked report that similar incident occurred in Nok and Sambang Dagi villages on Monday.
Instead, he explained that the earth tremor occurred twice only in Kwoi community on Saturday and in the early hours of Monday morning.
While he explained that the incident was not as devastating as being exaggerated by the public, Mr Baba-Karik said that most residents fled from their homes due to fear.
He further explained that a team of geologists have been dispatched in the area to ascertain the cause of the earth tremor.
Speaking when rescue workers visited the affected areas, the caretaker chairman of Jaba Local government, Ben Kure, said that government would do everything possible to ensure that the people are protected.
Appropriate Guidance
After the first incident in Kwoi community, the Kaduna state government had also appealed to the people of the community to be calm.
In a statement issued on Sunday by spokesman to the state governor, Samuel Aruwan, the government said that a formal report has been made to the appropriate authorities to investigate the development and issue appropriate guidance.
The statement directs the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) to mobilise its officials to the area and to monitor the situation and assist the people in case of any emergency.
An earth tremor, according to geologists, is the perceptible shaking of the surface of the earth, resulting from the sudden release of energy in the earth’s crust that creates seismic waves.
Earlier in the year, the Nigeria Geographical Information Service (NGIS) had warned of possible earthquakes in the country, particularly in the south west region due to indiscriminate drilling of boreholes.
